Mya Renn is an NYC-based Fashion Design student at the Fashion Institute of Technology with a specialization in Ready-to-Wear. She grew up on a small neighborhood island just off the mainland from her hometown Gig Harbor, WA. This is where her love for fashion started— at three years old, stomping her pink cowboy boot to the ground and insisting on her outfit choice over her mother’s. Her mother understood this was the easy way out, and let her choose her day-to-day looks from then on out, while also translating Mya’s juvenile halloween fashion sketches to reality.
From halloween to FIT Mya’s skills and tastes have certainly evolved. Her ethos now consists of visualizing internal conundrums through provocative streetwear. Describing social, mental, and emotional statuses makes fashion design a therapeutic outlet that can be re-interpreted by others based on what it can heal in themselves. Her looks combine a masculine oversized edge with a sexy feminine touch that together can execute the irony that exists within many of her stories.
